NUC believes varsities will reopen soon, Decries Asuu strike action

The National Universities Commission in Abuja on Tuesday said preparations were in top gear to reopen the nation’s universities after the forced closure due to COVID – 19 pandemic.

The Deputy Executive secretary of the NUC(Academics), Dr Suleiman Rahmon Yusuf spoke on Universities response to the Covid-19 which was prior to a directive given by NUC to Varsities to state their level of preparedness.

Dr Suleiman also stated that are a total of 32 universities had delved into research on the cure to the dreaded virus. This has however been challenged by the current ASUU strike action restraining the Varsities. 

He further stated that a significant number of VC's has sent response as regards the reopening of the Higher institutions. 

He also lamented on the current Asuu strike and also seek effort to stop the actions in Nigeria.
